My MacBook sees my PC, but not the other way around.

Hi there,

For a long time I have been a windows user and never bothered with a mac.
However yesterday I decided to leap into that change and got myself a MacBook.

It has been GREAT. I totally love it.

I'm trying to network it with my PC desktop (XP) through my router so I can share files interchangeably.

I got my Mac to recognize my Shared Folder on my Desktop no worries. But i can't get my windows to detect the Mac for me to send files over to.

So far I have enabled File sharing on the mac.

Any advice?

Everything including the net works on the mac.

try clicking options in file sharing and check share files using SMB and check you username. your public folder should then be shown in neighbourhood network.

Go Into System Preferences ->Sharing
Click File Sharing Click Options
Choose Share files and folders using SMB (not on by default) and choose the account you wish to use. That should do the trick.
