Recently, I have been having problems with my Mac not registering the fact that my iPhone is plugged in. It will not charge, or show in the devices section on iTunes. I have tested my USB ports and they work. My charging cord works because my phone will charge when directly plugged into the wall. Which means that something is wrong with my computer. Any suggestions? I've tried restarting both my phone and my laptop.

Have you recently upgraded to yosemite?

If so take a look and see if there are any further updates as this sorted out my itunes iphone issues.
