My MacbookPro doesn't recognises any hard drive.

Well to start up my usb ports are working cause I tried to use a mouse and it works. My Macbook doesn't recognises my iPhone, and my hard disk. I don't have problems in my iPhone or my hard disk because I tried it on another device. Well it seems to be a systemic problem. I repaired permissions, restarted, still not working. Any ideas? I can give more details if needed.

Please don't be insulted by the question, but have you gone to Finder Preferences and checked the option to show "External Disks" on the desktop ??
