Since installing Lion i notice my MacBooks hard drive is read only....if i want to create a folder or write anything to my hard drive i have to authenticate it with my password...how on earth do i get back to normal ?

I need to install java runtime and it fails because the installer cant write to the hard drive..

Apart from this Lion is great !

I've noticed the same thing, it seems you need to be root to create new folders in the root directory.
