Today I was using the magic keyboard with my iPad Air 4.
I set it down in the open position on my ottoman and when I returned less than an hour later (direct sun thru a window with less than an hour of exposure) when I picked up the iPad and tried closing the keyboard it only closes to this position.
There are a couple places it looked like it swelled. Does it say in the instructions to never leave in sunlight?
Time for the Genius Bar.

Do you have AppleCare+ on the keyboard?

I don't see how sun coming in from the window (in less than an hour) did that.

Are you sure the iPad didn't swell or have some kind of malfunction?
Yes, I do have AppleCare.
I don’t know how it did it either. I came back to my iPad and it would no longer close:(

...It looks bent, like someone sat on it, to me. Absolutely isn't melted in any way, shape, or form.

Something is preventing closing.
The keyboard looks OK from that side. No obvious distortion from that angle...
Can you show what is swelling?

From that photo, it also looks like the endcap is missing from the hinge tube. Did you drop this thing out a window or something? Any grandkids around when you weren't looking? :D

There's nothing that can "swell" in the Magic Keyboard. It's all solid state components. Certainly nothing that is going to crease/bend the keyboard and pop the end cap out of the hinge.

I can see what appears to be 3 very obvious bends in the keyboard.

No grand kids, only me and my wife and shes been gone this afternoon and never touches it
Just me all alone with my old white lab at the time.
I think is someone were to sit on it, it would have bent the other direction.
The sun was all I could think of unless circuitry could have overheated.
All I did was pick it up and try to close it. Usually it just snaps closed and this time it didn’t:(
Here are a couple pictures showing the “swelling” I mentioned.
support sent me to the genius bar at best buy with an appointment as it was closest and said they could examine and replace it if they had them in stock and it was covered. After a uber ride to best buy they told me that they cannot make warranty determinations. I them got in touch with apple support higher up and they work with me now

Well labs are pretty big... maybe he/she sat on it. :D

I'd doubt that is heat related? Try to bend it back? I had the Smart Keyboard folio and used that in the sun plenty of times without problems.
