My backlight failed today, but I can still use my external monitor for now.

It’s a fully loaded 2017 15” mbp, but I kind of want to upgrade. What are the chances the 2020 ARM mbp will have a new form factor and or dedicated graphics. I kind of want a new form factor, and I MUST have dedicated graphics. Will ARM mbp have dedicated graphics?

First... there's a fuse that protects the backlight on your machine. Go to www.ifixit.com and ask in the community forum where it's located. And until Apple announces the new ARM MacBook Pros, we won't know anything about what kind of graphics it has.

@chscag fair point in ARM. Also, I’ve got a failed backlight (only turns on at 1% max brightness, barely visible). Apple support estimated $900 to fix it. Are you saying there’s a DIY option at ifixit? Maybe I should try, my computers is backed up and out of warranty anyway.

What do you mean exactly by "dedicated graphics"? Are you talking about performance or something else?

I'd expect the first ARM MBP to be a 13" MBP with Apple's integrated GPU. The GPU performance should be better than your current 15".
