Ever since Yosemite my MBP (2011, quadcore i7, 16 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD) takes forever to sleep. Often more than 1 minute.

I want my Mac to sleep the instance I close the lid. I don't care for any missing data or other things that could happen – it's up to me to solve those issues before I close the lid and I'm perfectly aware of the consequences.

That's why I turned off Hibernation mode when it arrived (in 10.7?) and I still have it turned off. I have also turned off Standby mode (even though I'm unsure if that affects my Mac, I think it's too old).

This is of course a problem because I still have a mechanical HDD – I don't want to move the computer until the drive spins down, due to mechanical failures. And waiting for the computer to sleep while I'm in a hurry is quite frustrating...

So - What can I do to make the Mac shut down all drives and go to sleep the instance I want it to?

Tia,
Andreas
