My microphone port doesn't Work on my PM7600

My microphone port doesn't work on my PowerMacintosh 7600/132.

The microphone which came with the computer works because I tested it on an iMac so there is something wrong with my microphone port.

I tried using both types of apple microphones (the semi circle & full circle) and I tried other types of microphones. I tried using the microphones in MacOS 9.1, 8.5, 7.6, 7.5.3 and Yellow Dog Linux 2.1.

Can anyone help me . Also the Performa 6360's at the school I go to, also thier microphone ports don't work and the teachers do not know why - could that problem be related to my problem???

What are you trying to do with the mic and what program are you trying to do it with?

I have had a similar issue with my 6500 but it wasnt broken, rather I just had to change some settings and it worked perfectly.

Check in your SOUND control panel. If you cant figure it out then just answer the questinos above and maybe I can help.
