After a few neoprene jobbies I decided a while ago that my unibody MBP needed something just that bit more luxurious to cover its precious body. So I set out in search for a nice real leather sleeve. This was more difficult than I thought as most branded ones seem to be too expensive and the unbranded ebay ones are more than likely PVC.
So after scouring the internet for a while I discovered Toffee. They are based in Australia and make a full range of high quality cases for all sizes of Apple Laptops. I decided on the Toffee Sleeve in brown leather as I thought it would go best with the silver aluminium of the Macbook Pro. After a few weeks wait it arrived today and I am really impressed. The leather has that lovely soft quality feel and there is no doubt that its 100% animal skin :smashin:. The quality of stitching and general craftsmanship seem way above its pricepoint.
Its lined with a really soft and padded mesh material and I'm confident that there's nothing in there to mark my laptop.
The fit of the sleeve is just right, nice and tight which is good as we all know real leather tends to give a bit over time. Its not tight to the point where its a struggle to fasten the zip but its got a reassuring snugness to it if that makes sense.
As far as customer service goes, I will give Toffee a 10/10. My purchase was not trouble free as the first sleeve they sent me was lost in the post at some point between Australia and Cumbria. But I emailed to ask where it was after the 10 day delivery time they quoted had passed and a really helpful girl called Natasha Sullivan replied within 24hrs and promised to send one out via Fedex, the same day I received a tracking email from her, and it arrived safely with me in the UK within 3 days of it being sent.
So all in all I would give the sleeve a 10/10, its exceeded the quality I was expecting at the very reasonable £44.95 shipped. I know I'll be reccomending these to all my friends, and whenever I buy a new laptop am sure I won't be going back to neoprene after this one.
