I've just solved my "iPhone 4s in a bumper, in a dock" issue!
I've got one of these: Foldable iPad/iPhone Battery Charger/Dock Portable and.. | Ebuyer.com
I actually got it from Maplin (in the UK) for £14.99 for a recent trip to New York and I consider it to be the bargain of the century, as it was brilliant for charging at night and sticking in my rucksack during the day for use in Starbucks etc!
Anyway, I digress....
I have it sitting on my desk connected to my iMac doing nothing (it was only connected to recharge the battery) and it suddenly dawned on me that I can use it as a dock!
My 4S in it's bumper sits in it perfectly and I can also charge/sync it with iTunes without any issues. :clap:
I haven't tried my iPad 3 in it's otterbox Defender yet, but I'll give that a go later.
In the meantime, these devices really are superb and mine ensured that while I was out and about in NYC, I never had to worry about my iPhone running out of juice.
I was stopping regularly in Starbucks to make Skype & Facetime calls, so all I did when I got in was grab a seat by the window, stick my phone on the dock and not worry about it running out of charge. :thumbsup:
It looks like they have become really popular and crept up in price, but if you can find one for a decent price, I would say get one.
