I can't believe my brand spanking new 2012 27" iMac comes with windows 8 preinstalled in boot camp. When I did a system recovery on my iMac. Notice there was a windows partition already on the hard drive.

Doesn't sound brand new. It sounds like it was used.

According to Apple, Windows 8 isn't compatible with Bootcamp...but it could be that they just dont recommend it.....

id send it back if i even got whiff of a £2000 machine being sold as new when it had been used at all.

**** that!

Windows 8 has already been installed on Bootcamp. Not sure why Apple would say otherwise.

But to OP, a new machine would NOT have anything other than OSX installed.

And actually, it kind of has me worried if Apple are doing this.

are they re-circulating 27" iMacs that have been opened and possibly rejected (because of display issues or whatever) back into the system as new?

wow thats a first i am not sure if thats a good thing

lol windows 7 is fine,, windows 8 is trash
but then again windows sucks period i can only deal with windows 7 lol

You bought a reconditioned imac as new, that wasn't even reconditioned. ;)

Come on you guys, don't you realize a BS thread when you see one? :D. This was an easy one. The OP hasn't even come back nor has he mentioned where he bought it from. I call BS. Don't feed him.

If I ever found out Apple sold me a used for new price I would never buy an Apple product again lmao. The likeliness of issues with receiving a used such as dead pixels, yellowing, scuff marks is very high. How dare they put that crap back into circulation without fixing.

People should format their drives before returning for their own privacy concerns but Apple really should make sure of that too.

I'd send it back. There's a reason someone has sent it back once already. Demand that you get a brand new, unopend iMac before you send the one you have to Apple.

Apple say otherwise because they don't officially support it yet, regardless of whether it's been done or not.

Of course they do, once they've "fixed" the issue.

I'm not trying to Bs you guys. my brand new imac came preinstall with windows 8. this no joke. i bought this imac at bestbuys. this is not a refurbish iMac. this is a factory sealed. I will not buy a used iMac. if thought it was open item

i wish i could send you a screen shot of it. but i return it back to best buys
