Apologies if this post is inappropriate, but I wanted to share my experience so far with buying my first Apple Mac (MacBook Air M1).

I ordered this on December 12th and it was “Processing” until yesterday when it switched to “Preparing for Dispatch”.

Today it was dispatched from Shanghai and, then, about an hour ago it switched to “Package is Delayed in Transit”

Has anyone had similar experiences with their M1 Macs coming from Shanghai? How long was it delayed for?

Everyone who orders CTO has to deal with this. Shipments between countries must deal with customs. It's normal. It might take a day or two.

I have had Apple shipments sit in Shanghai for up to 10 days with random changes in status. Especially with intermittent Covid lockdowns. And first in does not mean first out, so comparing with others' experiences is unfortunately not helpful for predicting how long it will take.

Oh, this is so familiar. A month ago we had a big "Shanghai Gang" having their Macs delayed in Shanghai for a whole week because there were UPS employees been COVID positive in the airport.

Usually takes a couple of days to get a system through Chinese customs. Might be a little longer with the latest executive orders.

Last time I dealt with this was back in 2014. Then 2008 before that. If it isn't in the stores, then it goes through Shanghai.

Although I haven't ordered a Mac in a long time (2008 MacBook Pro), I did order some face masks from a seller on Etsy located in China last year (May). According to the package tracking information it was stuck at Shanghai over a month.

When I reached out to the seller, they said that COVID-related restrictions were delaying shipping. I finally got the masks 2 months after the original delivery estimate. It was annoying at the time, but it was mostly disappointment at not getting the cool NASA masks sooner then I finally got them. :^)

It looks like I've got a Macbook Air M1 on the exact same shipment as you, on its way to the UK.

Mine hasn't changed yet though! Where does yours say "Export Scan"?

It shows in the UPS app. Mine is coming to France and is now rescheduled for the 7th (Thursday).

In the past, I had a similar problem with an iPhone. Hence, I now try to wait until I can buy direct at a local Apple Store including the M1 that I got in Nov.

Just post this on the top post... not in your own one. :)

OK, I understand. I will post my status there. I guess a Mod can lock this thread now.
