Ok so my macbook is here, so far so good, no problems at all and al my expectations were met so i'm very happy!

But i have one question, don't i get .Mac account at all permanently?

It says i need to buy it or take a trail, but surely it would be free when you've spent like £800 on a new laptop?

it used to be free some years ago, but not anymore. you can try out the 60 day trial or pony up for the yearly subscription.

btw, congrats on the macbook!

.Mac is not free, but you can get a $30 discount from Apple if you buy it with the Mac. But I guess it's too late for you now. You can also get it for $70 from Amazon. Do it. .Mac is awesome.

ya.. did not come with 'remote control' .. i need to buy remote :( and will upgrade the RAM to 4gb hhahahahhaha

I just got a new macbook. I am livid about the lack of a remote! My little brother got one with his when he bought it last year. Now they scrapped it! Not happy. As for .Mac, i'm using the trial. Don't think I will pay out for the year.

Be sure not to buy the RAM from Apple, there are far more places that offer RAM for much lower prices.

there's no need for .mac for most people. Try it out and see if you use its features, and if so, get a subscription cheap on ebay or amazon.

Wait, does the MacBook suck, or is Apple cutting costs?

But real, yea it is a bummer, but it doesn't make the MacBook suck, just 29 dollars more.

Apple sucks for cutting costs making the new MacBooks suck, I hate how cheap apple is getting now they cut out everything cool that comes with there stuff.

I got a mighty mouse wireless + a remote as a free gift from a friend. My friend didn't use it and to be honest neither have I but it makes a nice toy just in case. Hopefully I'll use it one day.

Love my macbook - congrats on yours.

Well, the bad news is that .mac is not free, but the good news is that you can forget about it. The value in .mac is that it combines a lot of services that you might find useful and it integrates with osx well, but if you don't use all of the services, then look elsewhere. You can find a lot of services that will host your website and offer online storage for a lot less than $100.
