Hi guys,

Just wanted to say hi to all , and to give you all an update on my G5 all good since installed leopard , it is such a great mac.

I have been and bought my self a nice clean G5 mac pro 2.66 with 20Gb memory+ another 10GB in single 1 meg units( spare) and hard drives fitted are 1TB, 2x500GB , 250GB.
I think that this will last me for a bit.

Any way i have a question:

It is running lion but every time i try and go for updating the os it tells me i can't do it on this mac. ?
Can some one give me any ideas of what I'm doing wrong?

thanks guys

Versions greater than Lion are simply not officially supported on your original Mac Pro. There are third party hacks you can try to get newer versions on it.

Also this does not belong in the PPC forum because your Mac Pro is Intel-based, not a G5 ;)

Officially dropped with Lion, these can run ML with ease and possibly Mavericks/Yosemite with a new graphics card. So you can have a pretty modern system if you tweak it a bit!

Mines running Yosemite happily. Runs faster than Mavedicks
