My notes keep multiplying itself

As I am writing on a note (the yellow memo pad with brown color at top), it keeps multiplying itself and I am left with a dozen memos of the same content. How can I stop this from happening?

This question should go under Mavericks because that's the OS I am using.
Or maybe some other forum entirely...
