I had just double clicked on a pdf file and the system was loading Adobe Reader and my system locked up. The screen froze, the keyboard and mouse, not responsive. No mouse pointer, nothing just a frozen screen. I thought Jag had just crashed. I was ready to hold in the power button and I thought wait ... I'll try a remote login (using ssh).
Well the machine was still running, I just didn't have a screen or keyboard. It appeared that the window server had locked up or something like that. I tried to "kill" the most obvious suspect programs. That didn't return my screen. So I did a "sudo reboot" and gracefully restarted the system.

Anyone else done or seen this?

This not the first time I have done this. So I believe OS X the Darwin part has never crashed on me, only the window server or something like that. :)
