I use an imac with OS 10.6 and have a huge problem with a very slow Mail program about which I inquire under a different header here.

I did check the permissions with disk utility and there were very many which needed repair.
It seemed that right after the repair the mail program was behaving better.

But when I checked after a short while of computer use again a huge number of permissions needed repair. And mail was slow again.

The slow performance of Mail seems correlated with the status of these permissions.
What switches them around (behind my back!!)

There was a posting here not long ago (perhaps on the Mac Yahoo Group) with a list of permissions not to fret over. Apple made the announcement that a clump of specs don't matter to performance.

Even though Disk Utility spots them as being off. Worried me too.
