Hello All,

I use to have a domain name that was my full name ( darylgregg.com )

I missed the renewal by about 2 weeks and now its gone. I have tried to email who actually bought it and they are giving me the run around that this was a personal blog / picture share site and that I have no trademark etc on this site and want me to purchase it for $3000 or more.

Is there anything I can do? I would like to have my domain back.

I have pleaded that this is my personal site and that it was not acquired in good faith as they say they only acquire names in good faith.

I informed them that my site was used to share pics and stuff with friends and family and what could they possibly gain besides my traffic.

I even went as far to show them previous renewal and emails and locations to where that domain use to point too etc.

:mad::mad::mad:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Guys!!!

You probably don't have any legal recourse. Domains are typically first come, first serve.

Unfortunately your right totally un-ethical and I dont see what they are getting out of it I didnt have alot of traffic it was just my personal site.

what they are doing is betting that what they paid for the address is going to be less than what you'll pay them to buy it back.....and then they'll make a profit selling it to you

those bastards....by the way how can i check when mine is coming up so that this doesn't happen to me?

sorry to be a prick but seriously... do you people know how to use a calendar? not to mention that i get at least 5 reminder emails starting months before one of my domains expires - and i am sure i am not the only one.

Yeah I know how to use a calender and I have setup events for other domains I own but at the time obviously I didnt and they can piss off if they think im buying it back from them.

There being total a$$'s about it and pretty much are like oh well your bad.

I don't know if you can see his mail account as moderator but if so could you mail the guy his .com seems to be available again?

I suggest that you initiate a private conversation with the OP. If he or she is still using their MacRumors account's email address, they will likely receive a notification about your message.

It was the first thing I did. Might wind up in spam though.
