I have a really weird issue.
(iPhone pro max 12, iOS 17)

My Phone number usually is : +46 705 *** ***

I was travelling in Europe last month, and I noticed that when I travelled through France.
That my phone number changed from being from a Swedish operator, to one of being from Equatorial Guinea ?
The phone also got super hot all of the time. And restarting the phone made no difference.

It wasn't just the phone number country code that changed, but the whole phone number.
And nothing that I did would allow me to edit the number or change it back.

It lasted even after I had entered into the UK (A couple of days later) and lasted for about a day afterwards.
I contacted my phone sim provider, and they told me to contact apple.

Is this normal ? As I have never been to Equatorial Guinea

I once had a similar issue after using roaming in Europe with my UK number.

When I got back my number showed up as an Italian number… obviously not convenient! 🙂

I contacted my mobile provider and they had me do the following steps.
It worked!

  1. Go to Settings > Messages > Turn OFF iMessage.
  2. Go to General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
  3. Restart your device.
  4. Go to Settings > Messages > Turn ON iMessage.

Hope that helps.
