iPad Air: I had an iPad 3 that was overheating and lagging so this decision was a no-brainer for me. I love the Air! Every single thing about it. Size, weight, color, speed, clarity, perfect screen. It will be a keeper for a long time!

Ipad Retina Mini: I have had the original Mini since launch. It is my out and about tablet and reader. I've never had a problem with the non-retina. I use Mercury Browser that allows font sizing on all websites, as does the Kindle app, so the words appeard very clear to me. The lowered color contrast never bothered me and I never noticed slowing or lagging.

So why did I buy the rMini? I bought into the newest iDevice excitement and thought retina and fast processor would be all that.

My rMini has no yellow or blue screen and no image retention. The colors are exactly the same on both Minis. There is significant heat generated, just like on my iPad 3. That is the only negative.

However, to ME, there is just not enough difference or improvement between the two to justify spending $400+ (I pass down stuff to family rather than selling).

And so, the rMini is on the FedEx truck on its way back to Apple. Perhaps next year :)
