I Love L.A.
Just received my computer back from Apple after the replaced the HD (Seagate recall). Placed my music back and now the fan is just spinning like mad and making a bunch of noise. My old Seagate HD RARELY did that. What can I do? Am I stuck now with a loud HD?

Turned on the computer three times again and just checking email the fans are spinning and they are loud. I want my old seagate hd back now. This is just bullsh@t.

I just recently received the Seagate HD recall notice from Apple for my Dec/09 Imac and have been contemplating whether I should bring it in for replacement, but this is exactly what I was worried about. I've never had any issues with my Imac and the thought of leaving it with someone at the Apple store to fiddle around and possibly mess something else up really worries me.

Is it worth the risk to bring it in even though it runs perfectly?

Stay away.

I wish I could go back in time. Seriously. Now I have to call Apple Care again. Yay.

You might want to reconsider and download this instead. I came across this looking for something else on youtube and looks to be very highly recommended. Pricey, but maybe better than sending your mac back in.

Alternatively there also appears to be some decent freeware out there as well. Let us know how it pans out if you try one of these.

I will definitely try it and hopefully that will work. Thanks again. I'll post back on my findings.

Wow

Just installed this app and, yes, it is the real deal. Instantly my hard drives fan went to normal speed. Thank you once again for the heads up! :apple:
