my replacement iphone just crapped out????

Ok, so i was all excited to get my replacement 4GB today and saw it came with 1.0.2 so i loaded installer.app back on and what not. used the phone all day, made a few calls and everything works fine. My wife just called me, (I've had the phone for maybe 7 hours) and the earpiece speaker is SUPER quiet. I turned it up all the way and it's just really quiet and distorted now...the speakerphone works fine though. Is this maybe due to my modding the phone with installer.app or is it the actual hardware??? Now I gotta call Apple again....what's the iphone support number again?
