Hello folks,

I have many times posted my dissapointment over the performance of my retina 2012 15" in regards with the UI lag.

First in Mountain Lion, it was severe. Then I clean installed Mountain Lion and it still lagged.

When Mavericks were announced, everyone was mentioned how awesome it was and that UI lag was a thing of the past.

Also most of these people simply installed Mavericks on top of Mountain Lion, and the debate regarding the actual use of a clean install was, in multiple threads, favoring the opinion that clean install doesnt do much.

So after all that and being extremely eager to test the awesome smoothness of lag free Maverciks, I installed it on top of my Clean install (but still laggy) Mountain Lion.

I finally test it.... BOOM... UI lag... especially using expose and cycling through desktops was a pain to watch...

After a few months I simply gave up. I went through all phases, even thinking that perhaps I am oversensitive when it comes to UI smoothness, that after all it wasnt a software issue, but rather a hardware one... everything. So I did nothing. I kept using my 3,000$ computer trying to ignore the fact that the experience looked like a 700$ windows laptop.

Then 1 week ago I was in a electronic store. There were some retina macbooks there running Mavericks. So I checked them out.... 0 lag. ZERO. They were beautiful to mess around with. No matter what I throw at them they are smooth. Even 13"

"**** it I said, my retina must be defective (even though I checked the hardware multiple times and every result was perfect)

But then I figured I should just try and do a clean install of Mavericks. I asked again people for information and most of them suggested that since my clean install Mountain Lion behaved as intended (apart from the UI lag) and that Maverciks continued to work as intended when upgraded on top of ML, my chances werent looking so hot...

But I just had to try it. And I did... and oh boy....

The computer is simply PERFECT now... finally!!! after more than 1 year of UI lagfest I finally see the experience I paid for!

This post is simply there to pinpoint that a clean and fresh install DOES MATTER.

Maybe not all the time, but my case is simply proof that even when the OS behaves as it should (stability was perfect, no crashes) and you have some "non trivial" issues, a clean install COULD help.

I really cant believe how many people discouraged me from a clean install, saying it is a waste of time and nothing would be solved since my system was stable.

Most people convinced me that : a) I am oversensitive on my LAG statements b) my hardware is defective.

Only a very small amount of people actually encouraged me to try a clean install.

So there it is, my advice is that if something isnt right and not in line with what most poeple are experiencing, DO A CLEAN INSTALL.

Sorry for the long post.
