At first I was excited at the prospect of controlling iTunes via remote because of my audio setup. I have my itunes wirelessly transmit music to the Airport Express and into my stereo. From there I attached a FM transmitter which transmits the audio to a water-proof radio/soap dispenser in my shower so I can listen to my mp3's in the shower and while getting ready in the bathroom. I thought the AirClick would be great because I can potentially now change songs while in the shower as well.
Griffin claims that the AirClick USB works up to 60 feet and through walls. Now I know technology and Im aware these are almost always exaggerations (20 bucks if you can find a bluetooth headset that will work 30 feet away from the phone). But considering my entire apartment is 400 square feet, and Im at no point further than a maximum 15-25 feet from my mac, so I figured, even if the AirClick worked at 1/3rd its capacity, it should still satisfy my needs.
Not only did the Griffin AirClick NOT work from my shower, it didnt work even within visual range of my mac. In fact, I had to be within 3 feet of my mac in order to get it to work, and even still the response was delayed and I found myself digging my fingers into the remote to get it to work. I installed the software correctly, I even paired the devices (which one normally doesn't have to do) hoping that would work, but it didn't.
Now normally I wouldnt be that pissed, Id just return it and move on. But there are only THREE things that the package states (1) up to 60 feet (2) travels through walls and (3) perfect for airport express. It didn't do any of those and in fact did them so utterly poorly, I must call deception on Griffin.
I'd like to hear other peoples opinions, especially those that have the product. Is it just mine? or does the product just suck? Thanks for your time.
