For me, technological gadgets are a great source of delight. With Apple products, my fun started with the Apple II.

1. I’ve never been sorry I bought the item I really wanted instead of the cheaper one. The longer I live, the more I understand an important truth. Money is replaceable, but time is not.

2. All technological gadgets get superseded. I have friends who are always waiting for the better one that will be coming next. They keep waiting for the fun to start. I say the fun should be now.

3. But don’t buy something you can’t really afford. The fun stops If your kids are without shoes or medical care.

4. Try to marry someone with the same philosophy. Be prepared to buy two watches.

My wife could care less. She still has an iPhone 5. When her PC needed replacing, she refused a Mac. SMH.

At least I only have 1 watch to buy.

Great advice, coming from someone with such a long history of products !

Very well stated. #2 is spot on.

#4 is also my reality. ;)

I'm with you until #4. My DH doesn't get my gadget obsession, but he accepts it, and that is good enough. He has a Lego obsession which makes no sense to me, so we can at least relate on that level.
