My Safari won't stay open at all. I click it in my dock, my default apple homepage pops up, and it crashes immediately. Reopen and it repeats.
I'm using OSX.4.11, and the newest Safari update of 3.1.2.

It didn't work, but thank you very much. I am 65 years old and my brother bought me this WONDERFUL Mac.
I am self taught and every time I do something like this, even if it doesn't work I learn about something new.

I think I am supposed to be using Safari 3.1.1, but it seems to have disappeared from the downloads.

I put the newer one on there myself instead of just doing updates, and now (too late) I know I shouldn't have done that.

You could try repairing permissions:

1. Go to your Applications folder
2. Double-click on the Utilities folder
3. Open Disk Utility
4. Select your partition in the column on the left
5. Click the Repair Permissions button

There's no guarantee that this is a permissions problem, but repairing permissions can't do any harm, so it's worth a shot.
