After a bit of confusion on my first pick of the week post, I decided to post my second week here too.
Week 2: Focus on...FTP Clients
Windows Pick of the Week: SmartFTP
This free (for non-commercial use) FTP Client is the best that I have found so far for Windows. With its SSL 168 bit HIPAA compliant encryption, it sure is secure. It supports drag-n-drop, and has an excellent, user-friendly interface. One of my favorite features is under the hood - MODE Z on-the-fly compression. HTML files can be compressed to as low as 25% of their original size when being uploaded. Generally speaking, with text, HTML, video, and audio, this translates into transfers that are 3-4 times faster. Of course, SmartFTP also supports CHMOD and UTF-8. It's bookmarks system is easy to use, and, it can run multiple connections at once. If you run a small site, or you need a powerful program to handle large uploads, SmartFTP is the right client for you.

Like SmartFTP, it has a two panels, one for local files and one for network files. This easy-to-use program is a definite for any web enthusiast.
