Hi Everyone -
I am trying to install a SSD in my new MBP and clone over my data. I have a time machine backup on a windows share via SMB and a sparsebundle. I found out that the Snow Leopard Install Disc does not support SMB, so once I install my SSD I have no way of restoring my files as I can't get to my TM backup.
I found SuperDuper, but I can only create an image on a HFS+ and my only external drive large enough is NTFS. Can't erase this drive either. So...I am kinda stuck, any ideas?
some other thoughts I have had without exploring:
1. SuperDuper image to local MBP drive, copy image to NTFS external via SMB share, then plug in NTFS and restore from that image. This way you are only ever READING from NTFS, never needing to write. I am not sure how much disk space I need to do this, however. I am using 60GB/500GB.
2. Somehow find a way to share a folder on windows as AFP which the install disc can mount to. I have no clue how to even do this, but was curious if there are any tools out there.
