My superdrive on my macbook died... (exactly 1 month after warrantee expired)... i swear i'm getting apple care for my next laptop... anywho... I was thinking of getting the external drive for the Macbook Air... but someoone told me that it ONLY works with the Air... is this true??? is there a work around??? buying a replacement for my macbook seems expensive....

It will not work because the USB port on the MBA is over spec when it comes to power...that means your USB port will not feed it enough power and I don't think they are designed with their own dedicated power supply.

There are a few small usb superdrives out there that are bus powered. I think lacie makes one.
