Ugh. I'm copying a 500 meg file from a CD to the desktop and it is taking forever. 5min...is this the norm?

I swear it doesn't take this long on other computers.

I have the Dual Gig G4 (mirror face).

Not sure. Whatever came with the first rev or the mirrored G4s.

Maybe this is normal and I'm just impatient.

Too bad I don't have a firewire cdr to compare the file copy time to.

It's going to take awhile to copy from any cd-drive. Even my 52x on my PC takes forever sometimes. But if you want something faster, and don't want to wear out the Superdrive, just stick a faster drive in there. You should have space for another drive if you have the MDD Mac.

Stick a 40x, or higher, drive in there and it should go a little faster.
