As far as when I buy a new Mac is based on if I really need one at the time. I buy the latest one they have and not if a new release is eminent on such and such date.

I did the same thing with my new iPhone 4S I recently acquired. My contract expired, it was time for a new phone. I did not wait on the iPhone 5 or whatever they will call it.

Some people have 4 or 5 year old Mac Pro's on their last legs blaming Apple for no release, yet 2010 Mac Pro's are fully capable of doing the job at a much faster rate. Willing to loose a loss in production over waiting for often minor updates from a previous version.

I don't necessarily think moving to a newly released Mac Pro that has not been time tested for a while as problems may still crop up, be it drivers or hardware issues.

While they did have a very minor update to the Mac Pro, I think it was to tide the current users over until a newly redesigned Mac Pro in the near future is to be released.
