I think this is pretty cool. My teacher had the first baby in the St. Louis metro-east area. She wasn't supposed to be due until January 13.

"I came to the hospital because I couldn't feel her moving very much and I got worried."

I thought it was cool to have a teacher that had the first baby in the metro-east in the new year.

Awww, congratulations to her and her family! :)

My dad was hollering that we should have had her a couple hours earlier so we could claim her on our taxes.

Naw, she should've waited nine days so she could get her baby with Intel Inside. ;) :D

For some reason I know lots of people including a little sister of mine who were born on the first ... its not so great having to buy all these people expensive birthday drinks on new years eve ... grrr

Why don't they ever make a fuss over the last baby born each year, as they do for the first? Isn't that just as unusual/interesting? In fact, the tax break you can get for a child born December 31 in the U.S. might make it even more important.
