I think the fact that Apple is being sued by Samsung for patents related to the GS2 delayed them in releasing the new design as it would have added credence to Samsung's litigation...the tear drop mock up looks very similar to Samsung's latest phone and as as a preemptive measure Apple delayed the release to resolve these legal issues. It makes sense to me. Samsung and Apple have historically worked together on previous iPhones and I'm sure they have "borrowed" tech from each other as older Galaxy phones look like older iphones and vice versa. This is why Samsung wanted to have a look at the "new iPhone" as a part of the discovery process in court. Apple refused and preemptively changed the release cycle to avoid handing over cash...just a theory...or maybe I smoke too much
