No where
I got my new iPhone 3GS today. Pretty neat, but my Voice Control seems to suck. I'm not sure if I'm not speaking clearly enough or what. Who knows?

Example:
Me: "Play songs by U2"
iPhone: "Calling John Smith"

Me: "Dial 1234"
iPhone: "Calling Jane Doe" (The person's number was not the number I was trying to dial. I was trying to call my land line)

FAIL.

Has anyone else had problems like this?

Quit slurring your words, ya drunkard:p

Try speaking to your iphone the same way it speaks to you, like a robot. And make sure you're no longer drunk. If it still doesn't work then I'd take it to the Apple store for troubleshooting.

I wish I was drinking right now!

It's not the end of the world that it doesn't work properly. I can't imagine I would use it much. But I find it amusing.

I used the small commands, like "play music" and "next track" etc. They worked. Oh, and "CANCEL!" works when I start dialling the wrong people!

Maybe it's accent related. I see your location says Australia... Don't know, just a thought?

I tried short numbers like this initially just to see how it worked, and it failed every time. However, if I say something more the length of an actual phone number, as the guy on the 3GS demo video does, then it works every time. For some reason, maybe the method it uses to recognize your voice, it seems unable to dial short numbers using voice control.

Give it a try, and see how you go :)

No way. It worked! I just added my area code and it worked. Sweet. Although I still think it's faster to just hit the Phone app and dial the number. But it's good to know my iPhone isn't faulty.

the software probably analyzes how long what you said was, and if it isnt a full phone number it assumes you were trying to say something other than a number

so it probably wont work for, say a 7 digit number, because since everything uses area codes now, it is looking for 10 digits
