Mybook Pro dead

so to make a complicated story short my MyBook Pro 500GB is dead-somehow between trying to fix a slowdown in my two internal drives, the Mybook died and simply will not mount on my mac no matter what-i have tried to reformat it and it keeps failing. Right now the drive is formatting on my windows laptop but assuming that fails am I out of luck?
