I installed a myQ Garage door opener, primarily to be able to use the app on my watch. I don't use it every day but it seems like every single time I try to use it, I have to log in on my phone first, which defeats the use case for me.

Does anyone else use the app & have (or not have) the same issue? Does anyone know how long it takes until the watch logs you out & you need to log back in. I logged in last Thursday or Friday (I think it was Friday) and tried to use it again today (Wednesday) & it's making me log in on the phone again.

What if you remove log in credentials (select- automatic log in) on the phone app? Will that fix your issue? Seems like a security layer.

Thanks, that's a good suggestion, but that's exactly how I have it set up currently (automatic log in).

Yeah I just tried on mine and getting the same. I always use the HomeKit app on the watch for my smart home stuff so never realized this was in issue. They should just add the PIN entry on the watch app. Works great with LastPass but ideally, since the watch locks itself when removed from the wrist, it really shouldn’t need that. Reach out to MyQ...

Thanks for checking. I'll reach out to them now, sounds like it's not just me. Appreciate the help,

Do you have face id for MyQ app enabled? Ive had this same problem you are experiencing and I turned off face id for the app and set to remember me when i sign in and so far it has not asked me to sign in on my phone or watch.

Yes, this 👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻

That’s what I meant when I said to remove log in credentials. Apparently you have to remove everything including Automatic Log In. It’s working for me now too.

I think I have mine set up the same way, but I still get the error on the watch. I use a Touch ID phone, not Face ID, but here are my settings. Let me know if I have anything set up differently than you do.

For Login, I have Automatic Login selected (the other options are Touch ID or Passcode)
For Accessing the Account View, I have Touch ID. The other options are Passcode or email & Password
for Opening Doors & gates, I have Touch ID selected, the other options are passcode or email & Password

Thanks again for your help,

Try unchecking everything. Even the “Automatic Log In” can be unchecked and see what happens. If that corrects your issue, add back the credentials you need and see if that changes anything on the watch app

Thanks. I'll give that a try

Same problem here. I am going to turn off Face ID and automatic login. At the sign in screen I’m going to click remember me and she if this helps. Did this work for anyone?

We had same issue on all 3 of our MyQ garage doors.

Pro-tip: get it connected to Apple Homekit... and only open/close it from Home app on watch and/or iPhone. Better yet, when you are pulling up to house you can just do a "hey siri open garage 2." Solved our issue and is a big life safer.

@mkstretch - I saw you liked my post and have same issue. I think we had to buy a $59 MyQ Hub that plugged into the MyQ Garage Door opener in order to pair with homekit. but, again, 100% worth it.

Countryside, thanks for posting that! I've been debating about getting the HomeKit hub. Glad to know that it works more reliably. I'm going to order one to make this more useful.

Do you know if you purchased the Chamberlain or the Liftmaster model? It appears that there are two models (although they look identical aside from the name printed on them). I'm sure they both work, but if someone has experience with one over the other, I'd prefer to go that route.

I have Chamberlain, but my garage door opener is Chamberlain too. If you have Liftmaster garage opener then do that.

Thanks. Both of the hubs say that they are compatible with devices from both manufacturers, so I figured I'd check to see which one someone has gotten to work. I do have a Chamberlain though, so that works.

Mine always seems to reset my devices, and I often find I have "No Devices" (I have 2)... so much so that since the last time now I just haven't bothered. It's been since Thanksgiving.

This is typical of Apple watch apps.

Why can't the Apple watch authenticate independently of an iphone? Apple has pushed the watch store to the watch, but the most apps still can't operate independently of a watch??? Require it.

Just checked my watch and MyQ chamberlain said it needed credentials, open iphone and it has my credentials entered and awaiting my press of submit, go back to watch and I'm good.

It seems to me that Apple needs to ensure watch apps are truly independent of the phone.

I think this is up to the app developer.

Home bridge is too expensive

Just wanted to follow up here that I did buy the Chamberlain bridge & it now works flawlessly. Sucks that it takes an extra piece of equipment to make it work, but for anyone searching this thread in the future, it works great once you install that extra piece.
