So I have a Chamberlain MyQ hub and bridge to control both my garage doors through HomeKit. The bridge was recently found to be faulty and was replaced.

Since then, I am able to view and control my garage doors through the Home app but when I ask Siri to “open garage door” or “close garage door” it tells me it cannot do that...

Also, for some reasonthe MyQ hub does not appear in the Home app although it was successfully added...This is not a big deal for me but it’s weird...

Anyone have this issue or know how to resolve it? TIA!

Not sure about the first part of your issue. Perhaps try a reboot.

For the second part, if you’re running iOS 13, Apple moved all the hubs and bridges to a centralized location. If you tap the little house icon at the top left and scroll down to Hubs and Bridges, does it show up there?

For the first part, I actually tried to rename my doors “Garage’s Door 1” (and 2), adding the ‘s to the word Garage and was able to control the doors with Siri...Tried to name them “1” and “2” only but it didn’t work...

for the second part, it does indeed show up on the Hubs and Bridges section but not in the actual room it’s in (garage).

Yeah, I’m running three Hue Bridges and none of them show up in the room they’re assigned to. It’s just Apples way of streamlining it since you can’t interact with them anyway. It’s by design.

Makes sense...Thanks for your help!

Still trying to figure out the Siri thing though ☹️

All my accessories work pretty reliably with Siri. Are you using it on a HomePod? If so, since a garage door is a secure accessory, it would need your phone or watch (if you have) to authenticate it. Not so with lights.
I give very specific names to my accessories as not to confuse Siri. I named both my garage doors using me and my wife’s name followed by “garage door” in my kitchen, I have 3 separate light fixtures that I named “kitchen Main lights” “kitchen counter lights “ and “kitchen table lights” and if I just say “kitchen lights” it turns them all on/off.

Do you have the word “door” in the accessory name? If not, try to be more specific with Siri

Thanks so much for your input. Not using a HomePod, using my Apple Watch 99% of the time. I should also specify that all my (60ish) other accessories work flawlessly (lights, locks, thermostat, heater, etc.).

As for the naming, I named the room “Garage” and the doors “Garage Door 1” and “Garage Door 2”. When I name them “Door 1” and “Door 2” Siri doesn’t recognize the command. When naming them “Garage’s Door 1” and “Garage’s Door 2” Siri recognizes them and executes the command 🤷‍♂️

NP... Home automation and HomeKit have been by biggest hobbies lately lol.

Yeah, “Door 1” and “Door 2” might be too vague. Do you have other sensors assigned to doors, like contact sensors, that may be confusing for Siri and responding that she can’t open a contact sensor?

If you name them “Garage Door 1” and “Garage Door 2” and since they’re in the garage, the word “Garage” will drop from the accessory tile in the room.

Out of curiosity, did you try spelling out the words “one” and “two”?

The watch might be another issue. I found that it’s a little laggy and slow on the watch and sometimes doesn’t execute the command either. Have much better success with the phone, iPad and CarPlay. HomePod too minus the secure accessories.

No, no other sensors/contacts in the garage. I have lights (2) and plugs (8).

You're 100% right. Tried and tested!

Genius and AWESOME idea! I'm ashamed I didn't think of it before! I did exactly that and it solved my issue! Thank you so so so much for your input and help! Much appreciated! Hope this can help other in the future...

Actually I find the watch almost as reliable as the phone. I never use the iPads or CarPlay (90% watch + 10% phone).
