Mysterious Menu Bar Icon

So I upgraded like many of you to Mavericks, and now I have this menu bar icon that I have never seen before. The pause button turns red when pushed, and the settings button doesn't do anything. It doesn't seem to have a function at all.

Do you guys know what this is? How I can remove or hide it? Dragging it off while holding command doesn't work. Thanks for the help!

It's chromes notification tray if you're using the dev or canary version (not sure if it's on in the beta or standard release at this point).

The settings button will only do something if you've accessed a site which wants to send notifications.

When the pause button is red you should not receive notifications.

To remove:
1) go to chrome://flags/
2) search for 'Enable Rich Notifications'
3) make sure it is disabled
4) restart Chrome
