I bought a 15" MBP last week (got bored with the Arrandale thread after a month).

I've found something that looks like one of those laser-etched holes (as used for the indicator light on the MBP or the power light on the Wireless keyboard). It's on the body below the trackpad, about 1cm in from the thumb scoop.

I thought it might perhaps be a noise-cancelling helper for the mic. Or an unused space for an LED. Or it could just be a piece of dirt. Does anyone know what it is?

If you could attatch a picture of it, I'm sure people would be able to give you a more correct answer :)

I would but it's obviously very well hidden. I would just be attaching a photo of the thumbscoop...

It's obviously a defect. Go get it switched out.

You know what, it's probably just a speck of something. If you've looked at the indicator on a wireless keyboard you'll know that you have to look really carefully to see it. There's a certain grainyness to the finish which can hide things like that (which I suppose is kind of the point).

Sorry to get you all excited.
