I have an interesting software mystery that I have been trying to figure out. This is what happened:
Added m4v video file to iTunes.
Converted file to AppleTV format
Played file - looked beautiful.
Dragged Artwork into artwork tab of movie info window.
On save, iTunes froze - force quit.
Restarted iTunes - video file plays displays only black. Loud noise from speakers. Video can be tracked to the end to reveal working video and audio. This occurs in Finder/Preview, Quicktime X, and iTunes.
3 other videos (m4v and mov) in my collection are now also exhibiting this behavior, despite not having been modified, as reported by Finder, in November 2009.
I cleared prefs, ran disk repair, and rebooted and the problem remains. AppleCare will not help because the files were not downloaded from the iTunes Store.
Mac OS X 10.6.2 (now 10.6.3)
iTunes 9.0.3.
Thanks for your replies.
