Hi — hoping someone might shed some light on an odd phenomenon that happens repeatedly (and seemingly randomly) on my Mac Studio, iPad Pro and iPhone 14ProMax... I get a message popping up on one or more of my devices at odd times. The message says: "Trust This Computer? Enter passcode to trust this computer..." with the numeric dialpad.
What prompts this question? Is there some way to bypass this message or to set up a blanket approval?
Thanks in advance.

Do you remember when this happens, did you connect an iPad or iPhone to your computer? Working or doing anything in particular?

  • Just do it once The normal, intended way. Plug in → unlock your iPhone/iPad → enter the passcode on the Mac when the dial appears → click “Trust”. After that, the Mac is trusted forever (until you manually revoke it).
  • Pre-trust the Mac without the dialog (semi-official, works great)If you have physical access to the device and the Mac, do this once and you’ll never see the dialog again:
    • Unlock your iPhone/iPad
    • Go to Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → Reset Location & Privacy
    • This wipes all previous trust records
    • Now plug the device into the Mac while it’s still unlocked
    • The dialog appears → enter the passcode on the Mac → trust → Done forever on that Mac.
