I have just had an issue with my iPad mini with retina display. I had 4 gb of space randomly vanish from my device when streaming a movie from iTunes in the video app. I have not accidentally downloaded the movie as I double checked in the video app and in usage. Any ideas on what could be the issue?

Thanks for the help!

When you stream an iTunes movie, it will still use space. Once the movie is finished playing, you should be able to go into the video app and delete the movie. Deleting it will free up the space equal to the size of the movie.

If that doesn't work, you can try a program called PhoneClean Pro, live with the missing space, or do a restore.

Edited to add: Make sure and look in Settings Usage and see if the video app shows an increase in size equal to the movie.

I'd say streaming is consuming it, I'd not worry too much.Just monitor it after the streaming and if needed restart the tablet but I suspect the space will return.
