Mystery of the "Others" space?

Has anyone figured out a way to find out exactly what the "others" space on the iPhone is? I've deleted safari history, cookies, all my texts, etc. and it's still taking up a 1gig chunk on my phone. I don't even know where to begin to start cleaning it up.

Its system files, user preferences, iTunes artwork, Camera Roll media, caches of system programs, email data, calendars, and anything else that is user created or altered that isn't in an App Store app.
