MyWi not working

I have a trial version of mywi installed on a 3GS at 3.1.2
It acts like it is working right. I can connect to the SSID for the mywi, it gets an IP address but there is no Internet connection on my MacBook.
If I hook the iPhone up to the MacBook with a USB cable the Internet does start to work.
I do see that the MacBook IP address is not in the range of the iPhone IP address, is that normal?
