This is my first post here.

I'm relatively new to Apple products. I bought an iPad2 and a iPhone 3GS in the last year.

My iPad is WiFi only. So I'm interested in turning my iPhone into a WiFi hot spot so that I can connect my iPad to the internet when WiFi is not available.

After doing some research, it seems that MyWi is best app for this job. (If you think there is a better app, please let me know).

I've also been reading about MY3G. From my understanding is that it tricks an app to think that it is using WiFi instead of 3G. But I don't fully understand how this is useful. Can someone offer some example of the benefits of MY3G.

My3G like you said just would trick apps on your iphone to think they're on wifi.
Like lets say facetime is only available on wifi you will now be able to do it while your iphone is on 3G and not connected to wifi.
MyWi and My3G are 2 totally different programs that do different things but very nice and usefull JB packages.
