Naive question,Confused?

If i use an external HD as time machine to backup all the data with my MBP, can i still use THE External HD as a NORMAL HD work with other computers.

And if my MBP got crashed, totally damaged, Completely dead, can i restore all the data in another Mac via external HD Or the time machine can only be used to find data while can't be used as restore HD.

Normal, as in you can use it to store and transfer data outside Time Machine, yes.

Yes, that is the point of it. I've done a similar thing before. I bought a new hard drive and recovered my whole system using a time machine backup. It works flawlessly.
