I need help remembering the name of a movie in which there is a scene where a mother, her child, and a few other people are hiding out from danger (from soldiers, a monster, I can't remember). The baby starts crying, the other people tell the mother to do something about the noise from the baby. so the mother, after some hesitation, smothers the baby's mouth knowing she could be suffocating it. Following some tense moments where the group of people are nearly discovered, the danger finally passes and we see the mother quietly weeping as she realizes she did indeed suffocate the baby in order to save her and the group of people.
This kind of an iconic scene might have been in more than one movie, but the one I am trying to remember is from an older war movie.
Anyone?
