I have a windows pc and a macbook pro. I use microsoft rdp client on the mac to connect to the remote desktop on my windows pc. Unfortunately i can only connect via the pc it's ipadres. With its host name the name is not resolved.

Can this be fixed? Can my macbook pro resolve the windows pc via its hostname?

You might want to try something different than RDP.

I use UltraVNC on PCs and Chicken of the VNC on Mac. Name resolution is no issue.

UltraVNC on the PC has the advantage of being able to be installed as a system service. That means it will start up every time your PC does and you don't have to worry about it.
