I’m away from home for about a week, but I’m working through a problem with my studio. I have four printers set up in different rooms. I intend to send documents to people in these various rooms. They’re all HP OfficeJet Pro printers. The problem is I want to rename the printers to go to the room the print job would be going to. So if i need to send a print job to room 3 I can select room 3 in the print dialogue so that so it goes to the proper location. I didn’t see a way to rename them in the HP software in setting them up. Is there a way to change the name in the Mac Pro? Not that it should make any difference but I’m on a 2019 7,1 Mac Pro and Monterey.

I hope this makes sense!

You missed the simple way...
Open System Preferences, then Printers & Scanners pane.
right-click on the printer, and choose "Rename Printer", and edit the printer name. You can also edit the location, too.
and, click OK.
(This process does NOT change the name of the printer itself, only the name that your Mac uses to identify each printer.)

Thank you! I was going to check this when I get home. This is what I was hoping for.
