Nanoleaf today announced the launch of a SmarterLife Pricing Initiative that will see the company permanently lowering the prices on all of its most popular products. Nanoleaf is aiming to make smart lighting more accessible to customers, with lower costs for the Shapes, Lines, Elements, Blocks, and Skylight modular lighting options.

The discount has been in the works for some time, and Nanoleaf says that it worked with its manufacturing and supply chain teams over the last two years to reexamine, rework, and reoptimize manufacturing processes, materials, and structures with the goal of cutting costs.

Nanoleaf says that it is able to cut down on costs without compromising product quality or design, and prices have been reduced up to 36 percent.

The base Triangle Smarter Kit, for example, is now $150, down from $200. The kit with 16 triangles is now $300, down from $410, and Skylight pricing now starts at $200, down from $250. Price cuts are applicable to most of the multi-piece kits that Nanoleaf sells, along with expansion packs and bundles.

The updated pricing is available today from the Nanoleaf website, and will be rolling out to retailers like Amazon and Best Buy soon.

Nanoleaf are a disaster.

Just check out their SubReddit if you need evidence.

Their architecture is a mess.

So many people have ditched all their Nanoleaf products and gone back to Hue.

Any 'cost savings' are blown away by the time wasted trying to get these devices working again when they go down.

Their customer support is appalling — and they clearly don't care.

I’ve been using four Nanoleaf bulbs for a few years and they’ve been fine, but after reading all the horror stories on that sub I’m probably going to look elsewhere when I want to expand.

I’ve had bad experiences with so many brands; it seems like I should just go with Hue stuff and be done with it

I’ve had good experiences with Nanoleaf support and their standard lightbulbs (of which I have four). I think I figured out an issue I had with them in the past. It seems if you regularly cut the power to the bulb, like with a standard light switch, it eventually kills them. I had four in my bathroom and all four died over time. Nanoleaf support replaced all four without issue. Because my wife couldn’t change the habit of flipping the light switch I moved the bulbs to four other locations in the house and they’ve been going strong for a couple years now. Zero issues with reliability or following Home instructions and automations.

I really want some of those skylights so this price cut is in the right direction. They’re too expensive for me. I’m looking forward to holiday sales this fall to drop the price further, when maybe I’ll have the drive to do a little office remodel.

Wow, i honestly didn’t know they were such a mess. I have 3 of their bulbs in my home (the complete extent of my smart home) and i haven’t had any issues with them. Was considering buying more, but now that I looked at this subreddit, I change my mind. Will have to research and find someone else.

That’s still not cheap 😡

Needs to be lot lot lower to compete with others on Amazon and let alone Temu.

Triangle Smarter Kit needs to start at just $99, 16 triangle kit has to start at $199, and skylight has to start at $150.

Yes that seems like insane cuts but competition has prices around that ballpark. If they want to become more accessible, they need to slash the prices further.

Yup. That was pretty much my experience too. I regretting buying Nanoleaf products. Couldn't wait to dump them on eBay and would never repeat the mistake.

I've got 3 bulbs which I don't love. They can be finicky with connectivity at times and I find when using colour they just aren't that bright compared to other colour adjustable bulbs I own.

I have two sets of their triangle lights. They've held up pretty well for us aside from having to replace the controller on one of them a year ago but they sent me a new one no problem.

I'm not really sure of anyone else who is making similar panel lights that are of decent quality. But yeah I've read their subreddit recently and likely won't buy from them again when my current lights inevitably die.

The sale they had during Black Friday was joke. I remember when you went to their site one of the images they used was still a few thousand dollars. 😄

I applaud you all that can justify that kind of money on lights, but the enjoyment I get spending a fraction of that on Hue is well worth it to me.

Not to mention, I finally have a bulb starting to act up after 7(?) years of service. It's on 24/7 because it turns in to a low powered night light. I can't complain at all.

Nanoleaf lights have too many issues.

Aqara released their dual protocol bulbs that support Matter over Thread, and Zigbee, a few days ago.

Have heard some reports of them having a strange humming sound when working, sticking with my Nanoleaf matter essentials for now even though the rumours are true, they suck :(

Won't go back to Hue either, as I don't want anymore hubs sucking up my home data. Would switch to them in a heartbeat if they started releasing matter / thread bulbs though

I wake up every morning with a long slow fade up of a set of Nanoleaf hexagons. I'm pretty happy with them.

nvm

I have been stuck in a support issue with Nanoleaf that has been an ORDEAL to fix. Their technical support consists of them pushing you to a set of steps that do not work. I had a time scheduled with them over Teams and they showed up an hour earlier and then cancelled the appointment. So now I have to reschedule a new one and I still still don't have my control square working.

After this experience I don't think I will purchase any of their lights ever again. I bought these lights in December 2024 and its Mid February and my lights are still not working.

Bought Nanoleaf Elements for my work office in September. Two weeks ago went to turn it on and it was dead. Customer Tech Support form is broken. Chat is down till April. Submitted a non-technical support request since that form was not broken. Got a response with a ticket number. Not an actual response, just and automated ticket created. Tried a couple times responding but crickets. 2 weeks later I had to submit another one as they had NEVER contacted me. Considering going back to Amazon and having them deal with it.

Ah, I love capitalism in this case! Govee finally went all in and challenged the status quo. Even Home Depot’s Hubspace product line is shaping up to sell some decently priced stuff—> I have their 40 foot led strip light and it works great; though no HomeKit support 🙁

I have the Nanoleaf Elements regular base bulb, with a sunrise simulation app, and it really does work well, all for the cost of a minimum of one bulb ~$20 🤩

When they work, their panels are overpriced but good. When they don’t, god help you, because Nanoleaf won’t. Their software is pretty crap, and they continuously bring out new products without properly making sure the old one’s work reliably.
What irks me is that they are the most reasonably priced provider of multizone light strips that properly integrate with HomeKit. I’ll buy more of those, but wouldn’t touch any of their other products with a 10ft barge pole.

We have multiple of these sets at home from all over their history, they all work well. If people know a better working system that immediately integrates into Apple Home and has interconnectable modules I am all ears, Hue aside which we also have for years without any issues.

This has the markings of a business that is in the process of not being a business much longer.
